Shelters & Where to Post

Below are links to the most popular websites. Click on the Dogtags to visit other lost and found websites to post your information and to find shelters near you:

SHELTER LOCATIONS

Animal Shelters will typically take care of an animal for 4-7 days before putting him/her up for adoption. It is imperative to physically go to the animal shelter on a regular basis (every 1-3 days is suggested).

Due to the number of animals that pass through these types of organizations, many are not classified correctly by breed or other distinguishing characteristics.

Going to the shelter can be an emotional experience and I suggest you prepare yourself to see the animals being housed or ask someone else to go on your behalf. It is also good to delegate someone in your network to interact with shelters further out from your community (see Success Story).

WEBSITE LINKS: WHERE TO POST

Part of the reason I created this website is because I was being informed of other/new websites weeks into Oliver missing.

I have created a list of the most popular websites. Some of these websites will keep your posting “live” for a certain number of days (typically 30) and others require constant attention (Craig’s List) due to the amount of traffic.

There are also websites included below that offer specific services such as calling a certain number of residences in the geographical area (www.petfindersalert.com).
